GF-777 APLD Button Pain Upon Reassembly

I've tried about 10 different ways and I'm still none the wiser as to how I can reassemble a 777 so that the APLD buttons are properly lined up when it's back together. I've had a devil of a time trying to get this right, and right when I think I've got it correct and all put back together I find they are out of alignment somehow.

I've tried gluing the to the front of the case, gluing to the chassis, taping, aligning with other things on the case and a bunch of other techniques and can't for the life of me get it right.

If anyone's got a tried and true technique please impart this knowledge!!! And if this 'isn't a problem' for anyone thats done it on theirs it might mean i need to take some paint off her, as maybe that's what could be causing.. aside from that I'm out of ideas.

Can you post a photo of the buttons when its back together? Maybe, it can shed some light on what the trouble is exactly.

Good luck! :-D

I've had mine part about a billion times & never had this problem so a bit curious myself. Once the tape operation lever didn't line up correctly in the cabinet opening so the chassis was slightly out of place & the buttons for the ALPD didn't contact right. Is that what you are talking about?

P.S. I doubt if the paint job is the problem.

Wait a sec.... Do you mean that the chrome pads that are attached to the front cabinet are separated from the cabinet, are loose & you have to somehow line them up to the actual buttons on the chassis when putting the chassis back into the front cabinet section? They should be attached to the front of the cabinet & the buttons of the chassis should line up naturally to the back of the chrome button pads. if the chrome pads are separated from the front cabinet, you should probably use a dab of epoxy in the right spot to secure it again but still have the pads be able to flex naturally to engage the buttons.

Hope this idea helps....

Yeah, as I said, tried gluing numerous ways. It's something odd... I'll look into it today. I was more looking for if people had a method for doing this that they used reliably. If it's not a problem for you guys it must be something I've changed.

Will have another go today. Thanks guys!

Any luck figuring it out Glu? If not I may be working on mine in a week or 2 & will have some pics of the inside to share with you. Let me know.

Not had time to give it another go, but I need to take it apart (again!!) to look at something else... I'll give it some time this weekend.
I have feeling the screw that goes into the case almost directly above the point where the APLD buttons are might be in too tight or something. Hopefully this time it'll work.
