I hear ya.... and thanks for the high praise.
Doing these kinds of pictures really is not that easy and I'm sadly inexperienced at them. I learned a lot about how this process goes at this shoot.
Sears has about 200 different backgrounds, the multi-strobe pro lighting, and my wife scored a really good coupon... They are set up to do this kind of thing all day, every day... The rig they use to hold the camera alone must have cost several thousands of dollars. The camera itself (Olympus E1) was not a good as mine, but in this case that doesn't really matter. This is all about lighting and getting the child to cooperate.
We were in and out of there in a little over an hour and spent right at $100. Plus, I got the CD with all the images. I'm very pleased with the quality of the work. Plus, the photographer fell in love with David and took way more pictures than she normally does. They are supposed to take 7 to 10 shots per kid, but she took around 40 pics. SHE ABSOLUTELY LOVED THE BOOMBOX as a prop and was showing off these pics to the other people that work there. He was like a little celebrity for an hour.
