This is my "Roach".... It's been with me over 20 years. When I got it, it had cigarette burns all over the top, a crack in the top middle, plus the usual missing/broken parts. (Still wanting to find a battery door so I can retire the Duck tape). After some re-inforcing, I covered the cabinet in white contact paper (use the genuine Contact brand- the other wannabe does not stick well) and for the front part, I used this new chrome tape that a seller be the handle "Paperstreetplastics" sels on ebay- great stuff, it sticks well, and is real reflective. I like this box, as it has a rare digital readout and the sound is awesome. It also has separate magnetic phono input and line input jacks.

That chrome tape is AWESOME! I have used it to renew plastic plated chrome stuff, and it is very durable... just not for use in the microwave oven..... :w00t: I want to try it over the holes in my truck's bumper...

"Lipstick on a PIG"?!?!?!?!?

Dude, you waaaaaayyyyyyy overstate the condition of that puppy!

And I've seen Ira's collection in person and know what I have laying around! Trust me...that's no pig!

Keep working at it. (Don't be a slacker like me and never find time to do it!   ) That beauty is well on it's way.

The chrome tape is good. There is also a chrome flake paint that when dry looks like, well, chrome. It's sold in craft stores. I have some but as I am not home this weekend I can't look at it to tell you what it is.

Nice box regardless!

Damn straight. I would be interested in chrome-painting the tape door on my Crown 850. The way it came from the factory is rather drab.
