I grew up on the west coast, so for me, the only way I can understand how things really were in NYC at that time period are through movies like New Jack City and others from that time period. The Reagan-omic's period of the 80's was a tough time every where but more so in the big cities. The cold war threatening nuclear annihilation every other week, the "Trickle Down Policy" where the rich get to "Buy" and we get to "Make for them" was insanity and cities fell into decay and left that way.

Now cities like NY are vacation destinations for families. (Detroit is the same)

But to think someone had the balls to walk around with a $500+ ($1 in 1980 = $3.57 today = $1,785) GF-777 in those neighborhoods just tells me those people were tough! REALLY TOUGH! I'm sure in the history of the 1980's more than a few people took a knife to the belly over a radio!

Those are killer pics! I was trying to figure out what box that was that that guy was holding in the other pic.

That picture is on pages 72-73 in Lyle's book if you want to see it larger. The box has Big Shot on it in two places; looks like they were added by the owner though.

Maybe a Crown... :hmmm:

Go!
