Pop quiz.

What's the diff between a Studio 1 & a Studio 1M...is it the color (silver vs black)...and is that the only difference...I've seen them both used interchangably and I'm just a little confused, that's all.

Thanks, Norm. That answers my question. Now I have to decide which I like better.

At least for the next half-hour, that is...

The panny can't match the highs or the power, or even the beautiful looks of the Telefunken. But the bass of your CS-780 has it all over the Telefunken, especially at listenable (non-clipped/distored) volume levels.

The Studio 1 M is the optimized version of the Studio 1

there is the progress of technical funktion : FM up to 108 MHz, tape with Metal position and some other little modifikations in the electronics

produktion / service design : The front cover has got an other assembly design

Costumer Design : newer look of the needle meters, only english printing, front printing with 2x60 Watts instead of 2x30 Watts

Cost design: less different printings, arials with less segments, a smaller knob for volume

Thanks, guys. The price was right and I couldn't pass it up.
I really like the way the dark face sets off the silver knobs on the front panel.

From what I can see in the Studio 1M manual, it is 2X30 watts, also. That's probably peak, not RMS, which would be lower. It's music power that's listed at 2X60 watts. I think that's simply a momentary figure .

To make a long story short, the only power difference is in the capacity to handle short, momentary waveform peaks. Basic power capacity is the same between the two models.

Nice one, it looks great.

You do know that the Studio 1 only goes up to 104 on the FM dial? For many that's not a big deal, I only have 3 stations above 104 that I listen to at all and even then it's not very often.

That's what I have, The Studio 1. And I don't think the FM scale is a big deal either. Plus I think it looks way better in chocolate.

Never saw one in black. :hmmm:

it is 2X30 watts.

When on batteries, it's probably more like 2 x 2wpc.... before it falls flat on it's face
batteries do not work on these boxes they draw too much power so dont expect it to sound like a m90 on batteries :sadno: :sadno: i found that out thinking that it had problems but sounded great on ac.....

Nice Score!!!
I noticed in the listing it says the VU's dont work.
Just so you know , they only work when you are recording.
You got a hell of a deal there and it looks great in brown.
I have a silver 1M and I love it. It blows away most boxes thiat blow away boxes.
I wonder how it would sound with the optional gel cell that was available for it at the time????
