I sent this cassette to Japan via FedEx and the "authorities" of my beloved country look at what they did...

What can one do in such instances? Damn shame... the guy received the package but raped.

You can totally see (in the 3rd picture) where it says along with a red FedEx Logo "Opened by Customs" (Abierto por la Aduana)

Those bastards.
I know man! WTF??? I just came back from FedEx (where I went to send the cassette) and they told me that they'd refund the shipping cost back to me along with the "value" of the cassette; but you know how that goes!

Should have shipped in box. Really stinks

Bad Bad Bill
Good point Bill! You know, the past 7 tapes I sent using DHL and big bubble wrap and never had that happen... I guess it was simply bad luck?

You have to presume that customs might intercept a shipment. Therefore, NEVER make it difficult for them to inspect because they do not want to "carefully" open an item that is sealed like a mummy. I get boomboxes with so much cellophane tape (the kind that doesn't release easy) strapped to the bubble wrap that you KNOW if that ever gets opened, it will never have any protection when resealed. In any case, if it's no teasy to inspect, they are gonna just rip or cut. Better to use a carton with packing that is easy to remove.

OOOH!!! SOOO SORRY!!!

That's TERRIBLE!

I know...... but I decided I'm gonna send him the one I have in my collection (the very last one I have) and this time put a note in Spanish inside to please not break the seal since it's a collector's item... and then I'll get another one from a friend in Mexico who already heard of this and offered to send me one exactly the same model..... 👍

Forget the note. Do you really think that if they were thinking or intending to inspect the cassette to make sure there is no contraband, that a note saying please don't open is going to be honored? Me thinks somebody tells a custom agent NOT to open something, that it will only ensure that they definitely must open it.

Wow. I can see why many sellers will not sell world-wide. DANG! Think how pissed you'd be if you paid for a sealed item then GD customs ripped INTO IT!!!

yeah I thought so.... nevermind... I'll just attach a grenade to the cassette! Hehehehhe...

Sucks this happened to your cassette! And what a nice cassette it was, too.
I always hold my breath shipping items international. But thankfully I have not had a single problem thus far.

you would think,by now-
science & progress would provide Xray type inspections ????

Yeah no kidding Mr. Ira!!! We've gone to the moon and Mars but down here we're still Neanderthals (I guess LOL!)

I solved the problem quickly for my buyer. I just sent him my Pioneer N1x! And later I'll deal with the reimbursement from FedEx... Hehehe
