Hey, what the? An i931 with a chrome handle?

Yup, its a 2000 "round-top" reissue handle, which is still connected to the back half of the reissue shell!

I had to get a little creative in a few spots to get it to work, but alot of the screw holes lined right up. I originally just wanted to add the handle (like I have read others interested in doing), since the plastic handle on the i931 is my least favorite part by far. but the old handle is too thick for the channels in the i931 case. Which is fine by me, because by making the hybrid, I lose the internal woofer baffles, AND get a bigger enclosure!

Whoa! I don't think anyone has ever mentioned the depth differences. It's nice to see it visually. Also, I didn't know the i931 handle is all plastic.

with all that extra space did you throw in any speaker insulation stuff. i wonder if it would make anydifference.

Thanks guys The pics don't do it justice. I just looks a lot more "substantial" and solid now. But yeah, it def looks like it should have dual antennas.

The sound... is... a good starting point Its what I expected in that it now has less punch, but goes much lower. I'm going to play around with some poly fill, maybe some dynamat, maybe trying to seal some of the vents. The way the woofers move when cranked tells me the box is probably "too big" (or just too ported) so poly fill may actually not help, since it can make the box seem even larger to the drivers. I have a sneaky suspicion that the reissue woofers might even be a better choice, maybe their suspension has better damping. I'll check it out later, maybe I'll swap those as well.
