lucky for me --we have this local old dude -- :-O
he tools about in his old rusty cart --
always carries his goop and his clamps --

his motto is " no crack too big or too small "

now judging by the capacity of his clamp -
we can determine that he can fix enormous grails

thanks norm --just studied all of it --
reads like the IPS #2354 is the one made for the cheapo styrene that boombox cases are molded with --

I usually use the Generic Tap Plastic Acrylic cement because it's cheaper for the same product. I believe it is equivalent to IPS #3 or #4 but I forget. I have never used #2354. If it was me, I would buy one of each and test for suitability.

My recommendation -- go with the cheaper Tap Plastic Acrylic cement and a syringe kit. It will weld 85% of all boombox front/back cabinets. If done skillfully, an experienced guy can make an almost invisible repair that is about as strong as original pre-break. When repairing inside screw towers, I also add hot melt glue around the break just in case to give additional strength.

Nothing will bond nylon (switch shaft material) except plastic superglue with adhesion promotor. Even then, durability is questionable.

nylon, delrin and even your everyday polyethelene are mothers to bond --

for them --we go into our trailer park mode--
and whip out the nails, screws and the hose clamps :w00t:

Man-I never thought of this approach! I need to make some GF-777 screw towers work again!
Funny title though-I was thinking of the unfriendly approach to boombox repair-Bang,Crush,Boom,Crack!! :-P
I've only done that to 1 boomer-a .99 cent super mini that the tuner wasn't worth a damn-no time for such junk!!
Have a good one-GB. :-)
