Got some new stuff!

Let's start with the accessory. I got myself an FM transmitter so for me it doesn't matter anymore wether a boombox has (properly working) line-in or not. Although there still is nothing wrong with ine-in, of course. Another cool thing is that you don't have to plug anything into the boombox. You can freely move around with transmitter and mediaplayer. And what's really great is the ability to easily suply multiple boomboxes with fresh music at the same time :-D
I paid 15€ for this one and it works pretty well. It's powered by battery or in a car via cig lighter receptacle (plug was included) and has a 3,5mm stereo plug as well as an USB input port.

Now to the first and smallest boomer, a fully working Universum CTR 2303. I wouldnt' say 100% mint but there's nothing missing whatsoever and the casing's condition is quite good.

The next two are a Frontech CX-480 and another Universum, a CTR 4675. Again near mint and working pretty well except for the tape decks. Both have two with only one of them working. Also, both are quite loud for their size.

The CTR 4675 got really cool LEDs! Looks like the dashbord of K.I.T.T.

And finally, the biggest newcomer, a Genf Jumbo DSR-4106. The tuner knob is missing and the record button of deck 2 is pushed in but despite that it's in a very good condition and my shiniest boombox yet.

And within the next days another great one will arrive

That's the first time I've ever heard of a Genf brand. What a strange name - but a beautiful boombox! :-)

I like the black Universum and the Genf Jumbo.

With the FM transmitter, does music sound just as good as using the line-in option?

Oops, my bad, the brand's name is actually Adyson. So it's an Adyson Genf Jumbo DSR-4106, I guess.

With a proper FM transmitter the sound is pretty much as good as with line-in. If line-in is 10/10 then fm transmitter gets about 9.5/10. Be careful not to buy a very cheap one though.

If I can walk around without having an iPod attached to the box via cable and get no interference to the sound, I'll look into getting one of those. :hmmm:

It's definitely worth a try ;-)
My transmitter even tells you time and temperature :-D

Edit: Ah, I just found out that the USB port is for charging other devices when the transmitter is plugged in the car. Pretty cool.

I made a little video of the Universum CTR 4675 playing a song via transmitter. I doesn't say very much neither about the transmission quality nor about the Universum's sound. But at least it shows the LEDs in action :-)

By the way, the plastic wrap which can be seen in the pictures of the first post is the one in which the Universum CTR 4675 was wrapped. In addition there was a truckload of styrofoam pellets in the cardboard box. Ideal packaging!
