at the local swap meet.

First up is JVC PC-RV1J.
This is a nice sleek 3pc box with 5 band eq and it gets very, very loud. The sound is decent, but man is this thing loud. I was surprised to learn that it takes 10 D cells! Unfortunately the CD player is not working, hoping to get it working soon. Also no remote.

Next up is FISHER PH 415
Nice little box with decent sound. Very clean. Tape player has some feedback from the left channel, right channel sound good. Feedback is only on the tape
player, radio and line in works fine.

Last but not least is this SHARP GF555
This sucker is heavy, built like a tank. Everythings works and it is very clean. Some wear on the chrome parts though.

Great find on all three! The JVC is really a hidden gem as this was the first on of the series that eventually became "3-D Hyper Bass".

it is not often that I see a top loading CD Boombox that I like,
but this JVC design is a beauty. I would add it to my collection if I saw one.

Cheers OSS :afro:

love the 555 design ! I got a similar one, the gf-888, heavy as hell too, but doesn't sound really deep, maybe mine is a bit dirty, how sounds the 555 (compared to a 9494 for example) ?
