FISHER PH480K

Greeetings ,
Just registered today on this site…. I am 57 , and currently own a Fisher Boombox . Had it since 2013, and it is in pristine condition. Grew up with the PH 480, and my favorite, the 492… I have my 480 in the shop, and it needs a tape deck head. One I happen to see on Ebay for “ parts ONLY” , had the logo stamped on the play head “
Hi-B 71670”.

Can some please asap direct me to where I can pick this part up, or something similar- new if possible of course…

Thank you very much!

You should probably be asking your shop these questions. Although some members here do perform repairs and restoration on their own boomboxes, they are first and foremost collectors. The few times someone has replaced a tape head with something else was probably done by trial and error. As you may have guessed, you can’t just “pick up” replacement OEM parts for a 50 year old boombox, they’ve been obsolete for ages.

Yeah , I hear you… this rare shop fairly close by here in San Bruno, California said yesterday they would check into it, but miraculously this type of business which is still around , said it may be difficult possibly. I thought I’d look reach out here for tips. eBay does seem to have a few options, and I’m sure and confident I’ll eventually find a good fit somewhere soon…

Another option would be to look for Fisher stand-alone cassette decks. Decks and boomboxes can sometimes share many parts. Welcome aboard!!
