I got this Fisher mini this week. I cant decide whether to keep it or not as it has a few issues.

Firstly the handle is missing  also the radio tuner only moves up and down in the last third of the scale and lastly deck B clicks while its playing.
The deck issue does'nt really bother me as deck A plays fine, plus the line in works well, but ideally i would like the radio to go up and down the whole range (maybe stuck?) and the lack of handle is a pain in the butt.

This box is really cool though it could be a real looker, its easily the heaviest mini ive got and the sounds good also.

If i can fix the tuner and get a handle its a keeper.

:agree: All red and chrome and sparkly and...and...well, it just looks beautiful to me.

Handle is a biatch, I gotta admit. Dont see too many Fisher minis around.

Nice looking mini  The tuner issue sounds like someone's been into it and not lined things up right when it was put back together. The D8444 is easy to foul up the tuner if you don't line the tuner pcb back up right then it only covers part of the dial like yours...no idea how the fisher is out together so this may or may not apply. Hope it's that as restringing nearly drove me insane both times I've done it. Shame about the handle tho

sounds to me like the tuner pointer has stuck my friend, but like northerner says,if its the string then good luck with that....i tried to re string a cheapie hitachi i had once and it ended up in the bin  you should be able to pick up a scrap mini of some sort and rob the handle so that makes it portable again,as many of these twin decker minis are a similar size.....not had a good mini for a while now though,if i find some thing thats wrecked ill let you know....post up the approximate gap size where the handle should be and ill keep an eye out for you ;-)

Hey Retro, thanks for your comments, great idea about robbing a handle of something else.
The gap size is 442mm inner to inner edge, and 455mm outer to outer edge.
Thanks buddy
