Hi

I would like some information on the BIG Fisher PH-490 BB! Is looks very impressive and well made. How does it stack up with the JVC-RCM-70 or the KING JVC RCM-90?!?!

How does the cassette deck hold up on it, is it made well? How many belts does the deck have and are they hard to change?

How is it at bulling in FM stations? AM and SW?!?

Any particular problems one should look for with this model?

What can one expect to pay for one in very good to near mint condition?

Well, maybe $300...

Thank you for the advise so far. For the price range of $75.00-$125.00 I conclude that while it looks very big and impressive, it's sonic quality is not up to sunf

No, that's not it. My whole point is that it's whatever the box is worth to "you". And what the seller wants to get for it. I paid $250 bucks for a PH-480. The 480/490/492 are excellent units and sound the same. Some paid less, some paid more...it just depends...

There have been many posts by many people asking what the value of a box is. As I stated, it's subjective and really boils down to what the buyer and seller works out. Nothing more, nothing less. I've seen grails go high and I've sen grails go cheap. I've seen beat up pieces of crap go high, I've seen them go cheap.

If you're negotiating directly with a seller not tied to the 'Bay, good luck. If it is on the 'Bay, be ready to bid hard and bid often, or you may get lucky with one shot. :-)

Hey prg333, the Fishers are pretty good sounding, they lack a bit of bass, but if I play that box I usually just listen to bass heavy music to compensate. They are built pretty damn good! (I've heard a lot worse)
Hey If you don't like it you can always use it for a boat anchor, these things way a TON!!!!!!

Got my Fisher PH-490. What a MONSTER! IT weights a TON and is the BIGGEST BB I have ever seen!

Works great and sounds' very good. With 10 D cells it must clock in at 42 pounds.

Is it bigger then the JVC M-90? I have seen the JVC M-70 for for TWICE what I paid for the Fisher!

How does the sound of the 490 compare to the JVC M 70 and THE KING M-90?

With the cost of the M-90 in very good to Ex cond going for $1200.00 to $1600.00 I am HAPPY with my 490 at $275.00.
