Put batteries in the Conion and took it out of the house for a birthday party
this weekend.
Very very heavy with ten D's in it but made for some great sounds.
Which box have you never put batteries into???

I haven't put batteries in any of my boxes. I'm expecting them to last all of a half hour, so that's why. I sure would like a set of Beecrofts like Glucifer was talking about.
:-)

A few weeks ago Bill.....
A member here set me up with an original set of woofs and tweets.
As this box never had the originals when I got it.
The white ones were temporary.
Sorry to high jack your thread Frank....... :eek:fftopic:

I've put some C's in the smaller ones, but the larger boxes I have not put batteries in to date. :-)

Wow! You battery virgins need to bust your collective D cell cherry's already!!

Before I bought some sets of rechargeables I took the plunge on 10 energizers to experiment with.
Like Frank says, you need to realise that 10 D cells is a lot of extra weight in a boombox, and what
might seem perfectly reasonable to carry around un-powered suddenly takes on a whole new world
of pain when the batteries are installed.

Holly: the M70 is one hell of an efficient radio on batteries, you WILL be surprised when you load her up.

I highly encourage everyone to try out the battery experiment, you'll find you'll start taking it out in the yard,
then the next family outing and before long you'll be carrying a box everywhere!!

Well, I can but dream!

On a side note I was carrying the 777 to work today and stopped to have a chat in the street to someone
I'd not seen for a while, so I plonked the 777 down on the sidewalk while we had a chat, still playing.
I noticed a young hipster couple on the other side of the road nearly falling over themselves to get a look.
They slowed their pace and when I headed off after chatting to Janet I noticed they were still rubbernecking
and walking slowly in the same direction as I was on the other side of the road. I could see them out of the
corner of my eye, and for the whole length of street they were stealing glances and chatting and smiling.
I thought it was pretty funny, it probably gave them something to talk about.

Added to the list of funny reactions you receive while carrying a boombox.

Rock On.

Every radio I have has seen batteries and days out (except the Yorx BP1000 I just got).

I just had the i931 out this weekend. Took it to the studio, had some friends over, did a photo shoot with the band.

It is very interesting, when my band is taking photos (preparing for a new CD release this summer), everyone just stands around UNTIL THE MUSIC STARTS! Once I crank up the blaster, everything just takes off. Beer's crack open, smiles come out, the music goes up, people are laughing.

And just moments before, people mulling around, not sure what's happening!

It's summer people, make a $12 investment into 10 D's and have a good time!

i have used all the boxes in my collections with batteries i have a 931 that doesnt work with the plugg so it only works with batteries. my new 931 does the exact opposite.

Yup not surprised.
Most of mine have been out of the house with batts.
Even the Panny 5350 and the Tosh WX-1.
The bigger ones dont get out as often or at all because they weigh a friggin ton,
and are very clunky to carry.
I have always been apprehensive about the Conion though out of fear I might
bang or scrape it. Worked out pretty well though .
I had fun with it and everyone enjoyed the tunes!!!
Holly you will be pleasantly surprised with the m70 especially when using an mp3 player.
At moderate volume it will go for hours on a fresh set of D's
I find most of my boxes are pretty efficient while using the ipod.
Scott glad you were able to get some original speakers for the M-90, Also glad I got some photos
of it with the white woofers in it!!!!!
Thanks for the compliments on the photos everyone!!!!
