Nice one CB, the 8600 are certainly good lookers.


I was just a little disappointed in the sound of mine but that's probably because I had high expectations based on the looks, it's still a nice keeper box.

I make you right there - I got the 8200 as well and the sound is, as you say disappointing.

BUT - I mainly want this box for the looks and spec:

3way speakers
Dolby
Soft Touch controls
Manual recording levels
twin VU's
MASSIVE


Can anyone confirm that the soft touch control console is loose on there unit? As this one has a fair bit of travel.

It's been a while since I've handled mine but I do recall a somewhat loose control panel, not sure if that's because it's not attached right.
I'll have to check it out tonight when I get home.

Panasonic RX CT990

top of the range cassette deck - soft touch - NO CD

Even came with a free matching Technics CD player - a nice surprise as it wasn't mentioned in the ad - and all for 19 quid!

Also bought on the same day
Panasonic RX - for £1.20!!!!!!

This thing is MINT - and it came with a 100v adapter coz the mains in socket is some random size ??????

Quality, as always is 100% - Panasonics Pwn!!!
