Hi everyone-Here's the beginning of my JVC 838JW board transplant and it was a success!!
Now that wasn't good enough because I had low mileage parts-so I replaced the power supply as well-Skippy's looked like it had less mileage on it so I transplanet that as well!!
Now I have a Frankenstein!!!!! This thing rocks, really loud!! :-O :surf: :breakdance: :choco: :afro:  :w00t: :-D
I'm kinda' likng this so poor Skippy's boombox is now missing the whole cassette player.
I'm transplanting that as well, again less mileage and his works well, mine has a bad capstan assembly.
So I'm really happy so far and the Cassettephotos are coming tonight.
Once again I have to thank Skippy for selling me this donor box but with a slider rebuild a guy could have a whole 838 box with no grills!
I will resurrect to best of my ability unless I want to use even more parts-thinking the speakers might be next! Listeing to both closely before I put it together again!
I'm impressed as mu nice one is working very nice & loud now with all sliders working!
I think Skippy for gettimg me a good brain and not a criminal brain-this is a good Frankenstein!!
Have a good one-GB. :-) :-D  :breakdance: :surf: :surf:      :choco: :choco: :choco: :choco: :choco: :choco: :choco: :choco: :-O :-O :surf: :surf: :surf: :surf: :surf: :surf: :surf: :surf: :surf: :surf: :surf: :-) :-) :breakdance: :breakdance:

DIBS on the parts box!

I would trade you a JVC 767 for the 838 after you put it backtogether! Besides grills, slider, and cassette mechanism, what would it need? Would I be able to use the RCA inputs as-is?

Glad you saved yours  .

Hi-We might be able to come to something after I get it back together.
I'm transplanting a working cassette deck just needs a new capstan thingy!
Yes I'm sure something could be worked out-need to test the speakers next.
Looking forward to getting the good deck in mine!
Thanks guys-this is a fun project!
Have a good one-GB. :-)

Then the cassette deck section from the donor/exchange box!
Pretty easy to take out when the board and the whole assembly pulls out!
Just wiring all those cassette deck wires back up again.
Also glad the motor has speed control, this was a little fast.
Final photos by next weekend when all is exchanged!

Looks good, unfortunately my 838 is out of commission for now. You dont happen to have any sliders do you? My bass, treble, and balance are shot.

Nice work....I still need to dig into mine. This is a very packed complicated radio. I will be checking out this thread again when I take mine apart.

BTW, if you decide to part out your spare 838, will you have a good clean top aluminum trim piece, mine is dented. I might need a "Stereo / Wide / Biphonic" switch too.
