So I have just acquired my very first (and second) Boomboxes!! Sanyo M9818F which cost me the extortionate price of £1 and a Philips D8112 for a mere 50 pence! They're both in need of a decent clean up which I'm planning to do tomorrow. Shame about the condition of the Sanyo but at least its fully working and sounds awesome. The Philips had a problem with the cassette door jamming but luckily I had an expert to hand who sorted it out in no time!!

I am a very happy girl :-D Only problem is now I definately need MORE boxes!!!!

An excellent start to your collection there Bex, and I dare say a couple of rarer boxes there as well.

That Sanyo will draw some admiring comments I'm sure, and I reckon Vienna Sound will have at least one of those Philips boxes.

Now get out and find some more, especially at those prices.

You go girl!

Thanks everyone!! I'm really pleased with them :-D

And sorry Saxonman, don't think I can part with the Sanyo. Its now sentimental and when I have a wall full of boxes I will look at it and be able to say "ahhh my very first boombox" lol. Looks like we're gonna have a bit of a war now we're treading the same boot sales... lol

Nice Find's Bex and even better prices! That Sanyo is really wild. Is the center speaker a SUB? Looks like it weighs a ton!

Digging the Modern / Post Modern design of the Phillips also.

Well, your hooked now! Can't wait to see what you come up with next!

Just joined today.

I amazed at some of these BoomBoxes.
I had a humble Philips D8112 when I was a young lad.
Remeber being amazed at the sound quality, well then I was 10 years old!

I can totally understand you. I kept my first boombox too, although it's a mediocre three-piecer in rather poor shape. I gave it a tough time, so it now deserves its retirement
