Went to a garage sale this weekend on Fri and it was more or less an estate sale from an older gentleman that had passed away. He was an electronics hoarder. There were probably 85 to 100 different calculators, at least 10 pocket commputers, apple newton messagepads, and every kind of screwdriver or test equipment you can think of. I actually also bought a set of BOSE quiet comfort 2 headphones for 1 dollar.

Lots of stereo stuff but no boomboxes? She said they didnt have everything out yet so I asked if they had any old boomboxes from the 80's. She looked at her Mom and said I told you someone might be interested in that. She had taken it home. I asked if she knew what brand it was and she said she didnt know but it was silver an big with 2 big speakers in the front and to come back tommorrow, she would bring it back.

Talk about your mind racing all night long thinking about what it was and if I just picked up a JVC or Sharp or Conion or whatever it is!

I came back the next day and she said I'm glad to see you! I just sold this lady, a couple houses down the street, a table and chairs and we dont have a truck to deliver. I said lets load it up and Id be glad to help. After loading it up and helping her unload it I went back to get the boombox, asked her what she wanted for it and she said "nothing just thanks for helping deliver the table". It wasnt a "Grail" type box but still a very nice find especially for a freebie. I havent even cleaned it yet before taking the pics. Everything works perfectly including the 8 track and cassettes.

That's another great story. You gotta love boombox karma.

Hey, I just noticed the ball-tip antenna. You don't see those very often. Nice score! :-)

Wow.... you don't see an 8-track and tape deck in a boomer very often.

I say great score.

It might not be worth a fortune, but it sure is one hell of a novelty.

Contrats!

Thanks for the compliments. Ya it may not be worth a fortune and sounds average, but its clean and is a decent addition the the collection. Also I didnt have to hear my wife gripe about spending more money on old radios! :annoyed:
