Took a year but she’s fully restored and up and running. I’m so excited!!! The issue ended up being a transistor on ps board. I’m just waiting now for 2 new stylus needles because One is pretty worn out. Love the original label too. I again want to thank Norm and Floyd and anyone else who helped with this project.

What was the issue caused by the bad transmitter?

Thank you everyone!!

Well I got the VZ about a year ago and was fully restoring it. I had to repair a few sliders and clean and rebelt it. Everything was working fine but the tuner lightbulb was burned out. So I used a mini bulb I had and when I went to test it all of sudden unit went almost dead. Only 3v was going to rail. I tested ps board and with it hooked up I was getting 3v but without it hooked up I was getting the 16v. So we figured it was short somewhere in unit. I took unit to tech out here which he went through it changing different parts but never actually repairing. So he gave up. I also got some parts from Floyd and help from Norm. Then I decided to buy a parts unit which that ended up having same exact issue. After all that I decided to buy 2 transistors that was the ones that was giving a reading of only 3v going to unit when hooked up. It ended up being q701 transistor in ps board which were shorting out and fixed issue.
