but how did it ever survive its trip to its new home :nonono:

Amazingly it has suffered only a broken ariel mount,
but even that is a shame because this Aiwa is in beautiful
condition.
This is the second boombox i have recieved like this. The other
was a GF 575 that was packed standing up in a box too big for
it with nothing to protect it at all ! It was literally flopping from side to side
in this big cardboard box, and yet there is hardly a mark on it !!

More pics of this lovely Aiwa when i update my collection pics :-D

congratulations aaron --
-its one of the few boxes with "SPLENDID" sound quality--(imho) :-)
and you wont get tired of listening to it-
--------------------------
yes --it survived by pure luck --
how many miles (or thousands) was it from down there ??
--with that packing --it should have been hand delivered
from next door   :nonono:

Thanks Ira, yes this one is a keeper ! Definately one of those
boxes i keep going back to for another look :-D
This one come from the other side of the country !!! i would have been disappointed if
the guy delivered it in his car from down the road like this let alone
through the post !

Sometimes, those boxes get dropped or tossed around and it would be doubtful the box would fare well in those circumstances. Sometimes, you luck out and it doesn't get dropped.

I have like the WORST luck so typically, I want it packed well.

Great box, by the way, and by that, I mean BOOM-box.

That looks like a FINE specimen, great to see her find a worthy new home.

Hope the antenna fixes easily.

Congratulations on the box - it looks great!

However, what I'd like to know is, if you got that from eBay? If so, maybe you'd like to tell us the sellers name so that the rest of us can AVOID any of his/her auctions involving boomboxes.

Congrats AZA that's a damn fine box.
It survived by pure luck I'm sure, it wasn't placed underneath 150 pounds of other crap and it didn't get dropped. It's unreal how anybody can think it will survive shipping like that.

I just picked up the first box I ever bought (Sanyo 9902) and it was packed just like your Aiwa except they wrapped it in a couple layers of shrink wrap, LOL!!!! What the hell is that supposed to protect?

Shrink wrap?!? I guess it was supposed to protect the INSIDE of the box from potential broken boombox shards and make it easier for clean-up. :-D

But the cardboard box does say "Handle With Care" and it appears to be double boxed as well....

You dodged a bullet on this one... did you find the broken antenna clip? And hope of fixing it??
