Feeling really sad...

After acquired a national 4360 more than a year ago, the Rx-7200 become the first on my whist list ever since. This Tuesday I had the first chance to see one in person but it's very sad that I was late. Another collector knew of its existence before me and he quickly bought it.

That's the first and only 7200 I have ever seen in person, also on local websites. I'm quite sure it is probably the ONLY one in Vietnam. And it's a near mint, fully working one.

This thing really impressive me in every aspects, sound, look, feature, built quality. It's huge, shiny, built like a rock, with ton of feature, & maybe half of hundred knobs. It sounds amazing, a true hi-fi sounding unit.

Talking about feature, design and especially, built quality, it will easily put my Toshiba S90s to shame. Yes, I'm not exaggerating, that top of the line from Toshiba will look like a junk cheap box next to the 7200  .

150 buck for a near mint fully working 7200 - I would have scored the deal of the year if I had kept better communication with my dealer lately :bang: .

Although I bought home my second 5400 in very good condition, it can't stop me feeling sad these days. Imagine of many more years I have to wait to get another chance, wow really sad  .

Oh I know that feeling well. Sadly, there is no cure other than to get out there and acquire something else.

Best of luck on the search, I always enjoy your stories.

I'm sorry, I'm not familiar with attach file function and it seems like I can't see the picture on my first post sometimes. Please help me delete this comment.

We have all 'just missed' a fantastic deal, it is hard to get over. There are more blasters out there.

Maybe ask the seller if you have the new buyers contact information. You could call and give them an offer to buy or let them know if they ever want to sell it to call you first.

Don't worry! You will get another one! :-D
There are so many hidden treasures out there.

We all have missed several ones like this. Still I cry over losing a mint 5350 with the original cassette door sticker because I was late to make up my mind and bargained for it. Seller asked for $300 when I was at 250 and she said she will call me back. She called me back after 5 min and said someone is willing to pay $800 (some where in that range..cannot remember correctly). I should have agreed for $300 then and there. :bang: :bang: :bang:

Thank you all for commenting. One thing is even more sad that the buyer is a fellow collector of mine, who is just jump into this hobby not long ago. Since he started to collect box, I'm always a person whom he takes advice and information from. I even showed him most great models to look for. But he gives no f*** when I asked if I might buy the 7200 from him LOL.

Opportunities for your favourite boxes always rotate around back to you eventually. It's mathematical almost.
Plus you keep your eyes and ears open all the time!
This way the chances are higher to acquire more goodies! :w00t:

This is indeed a sad outcome for you, a friend as well? it may be to your advantage not to say too much about the BB's you see or hear of as being available. here is a simple but effective rule to help you:

There are two things you need to know to win at the game:
1. Don't tell people everything you know.
2.

(Think about it.)
Good luck - and better luck next time.

Thank you guys, there's lot of wise words above there. I've decided to stop feeling bad and enjoy my new RX-5400 instead. Will start a new topic soon regarding this bad ass looking National.

Haha. I get it. Funny.

Sorry to hear on your missed opportunity. But you had seen it in person before it was sold???? Probably should have either asked them to hold it or offered to put some down to hold it. I hope you find another one.
