Hello everyone!
I was wondering if anyone here can help me with my problem. I have 2 Sharp boxes that have the same problems. When playing the tape I will get a loud feedback in one speaker! (like if you had a microphone too close to a speaker) Does anyone know how I can fix this problem? Thanks!

Probably just needs some contact cleaner...its always the best place to start as its easy! Plus it can solve a whole load of seemingly weird problems :-D

What Sharps have you got?

I have a Sharp GF-9292 & SHarp GF-9090 that have this problem. Where do I spray the contact cleaner? What part?

Nice!...I got several Sharps and love them. The 9292 is the rarer model here and can go for money

You need to remove the back panel, then the top panel (after taking off the slider buttons etc) then spray some into each switch and slider and work them back and forth a couple of dozen times. Then blast some canned air in, if you've got a can, and leave to dry.

You should also do the record bar which is a 2 or 3 inch long metal slider in the middle of one of the circuit boards, behind the tape deck I think. Oh and the headphone socket.

Do those and leave to dry for half an hour. Put it back together and see what happens....corroded contacts can cause all sorts of sound problems and I had boxes go from just making interference and popping noises to working perfectly just with switch cleaner.

This is all good advice given to me by other forum members not that long ago and is essential knowledge in boombox collecting!

If cleaner doesn't work then it might be a bit more technical.

Good luck

Yes the record bar is the one most likely causing your issues. Clean with spray contact cleaner and work the bar switch 20-30 times and problem should be fixed :-)

Yes, and be sure to use some decent contact cleaner...I don't want to remember how many switches I f$cked up before I got a can of DeOxit..
