Hi, I recently bought a JVC 3090EN which had a few problems, one of which was the control fascia, it was metal and the glue holding it in place over the years had become unstuck and once someone bent that metal fascia back it was impossible to place it flat back on the the plastic surface again, so they just snapped it off and left the old glue in place and painted over it with black paint... didn't look great to be honest so what's a boom box man to do ?.
I had the same problem with my old Roland-606 drum machine and so I redesigned the fascia and had a print out made in sticky back vinyl which was of high quality and very durable and so I thought same again this time, re-design the fascia and get a print out made to stick on, you can see my progression in the photo attachments.
So from this >to this >
I've included the templates in a zip file attached to this post, they are for Photoshop, you get the raw .psd files including the font I used and the 'rasterized' versions ready to print, I did both left & right fascias.
Turned out better than I expected, much better than before anyway.
Now I have a favour to ask... If you own a JVC 3090 would you mind taking the back off and having a look at a couple of wires for me ? I don't mean to be an imposition but while I sorted out the fascia I also removed an old hack/modification which was hooked into the TV tuner, I'm trying to get my TV working you see and it was down to this old modification but after removal has left me with a couple of rogue wires which I could use help tracing down, only a couple... I'm hoping it'll fix my RF tuner and restore some snow & hiss to the tube at least then I can go from there... failing that I'll try and bypass the RF modulator and try for a composite signal direct to the unit.
Anyway If you can help me out with that I can direct you with pictures and instructions etc... in the meantime thanks very much and I hope these templates come in handy... you never know eh, cheers
