everyone! i've been a lurker on here for awhile now and decided to join once i got my bboxes in numbers.. anyway just today at the local swap meet i came up on a asahi rd820, however the left speaker is blown or maybe its a connection problem? .. i, myself, am not too "techy" with speaker repairs so I was hoping someone can give me some pointers on what to look for or steps on how to do it.

PS: i did not search on the forum on the issue yet. lol

Try to plug in headphones see if the "blown" channel works or not. Also we'd need to know whether the left indicator is live or not.

My educated guess: Function Switch. Clean with deoxit.
Alright I'll try it. How do I go about cleaning it? Just spray the function switch? And which one? Can you point it out from the pictures I posted if that's not too much to ask?

Either that or the stereo switch.

Remove the front case before spraying those switches. And use the straw that comes with the can, of course. Just one short squirt into each switch.

It will be the one that reads "Tape/Radio/Line In"

Yup, Mono/Stereo/Wide as well. Reli forgot to mention after the squirt give those switches a toggle back and forward a few dozen times, then squirt again, then toggle again a few dozen more times, that dislodges any corrosion.

These problems are always worse if the box has come from a coastal area.

i tried it earlier and didnt work.. OR either i just suck at trying to figure out what the problem is.. lol however i didnt toggle the switches much.. and forgive me again, it is the LEFT side that doesnt seem to produce sound. When the balance knob is all the way turned to the left, you can hear rthe radio coming from the tweeter very faintly..
