This was a GREAT weekend for me. After a 4 month search / eBay fighting I hooked up with Boomboxery member Patron, who is semi local to me and I purchased one of his Sharp GF 777's.
I couldn't be more stoked. The box is really clean, totally functional. It has a few marks on the case, but this box is going back into battle and will get regular use. Both decks work great after a little alcohol / cotton swap and cassette head cleaner action! The radio is clear as a bell and the best of all, the control panel is literally SPOTLESS! I know with many of these units the control panel gets pitting and corrosion on them.
I want to take a second to thank Patron for inviting me over to see his collection. WOW WOW and WOW! I was a kid in a candy store and we was generous enough to take the time to pull some down off the shelf, plug them in and crank them up. We gave his neighbors a real good dose!
It may sound lame, but I had never seem many of the units he had, so for me to have the chance to see these in person and hear them actually perform at volume, I just couldn't stop smiling!
It really gave me an understanding of why so many of these particular models are so sought after. Plus Patron showed me many of the unique features of these units.
I could have spent all day there!
HEY PATRON....WE NEED TO DO THAT AGAIN!
Well, here is Patron and myself....I'm the one with the smile PLASTERED on my face!
SIDE NOTE: His teen age daughter took this picture and says to us "Look at you old men!"
Here it is at home after a quick wipe down....
And of course I had to stack a few up...Damn that looks good with my 920 (I still LOVE that box!) and a super clean SCR-8
