I have PDFs of the 1981 Sansui catalog that includes the CP-5 & CP-7.
I also have PDF of the Sansui "definition series" which was their TOTL amp separates line from the late 70's, which was when they peaked in quality. Brochure includes extensive write-ups on the BA-3000 & BA-5000 power amps, plus the CA-3000 control amp.

Too bad we can't add attachments to these posts, I'd just add them here.

PM me your email address if you want these... (Freddie, check your email, I already sent them to you knowing you would want them)

that site is a good resource.
i have three sansui vintage beasts now.
there is also some interesting things about sansui in the eighties and how they began to concentrate on making small audio devices and put more resources into those than bigger systems.
i am thinking that this is beacause of the market being so hot for them back then.
i also think the boombox was driven to a large degree by japanese culture in terms of how they live and where they live.
lets face it the average tokyo apartment dweller was going to want there sound system as small as possible.
sansui was such a great manufactuer.
too bad there will never be another era of that kind of quality again.
some may think it would be cheaper today to make things like they did but i dont believe it for a second.
i think in many ways people have forgotten how good they really had it back in the day.
i suppose boomboxes are something that shows us that in clear and certain terms.
it is ironic how at the other end of the coin boomboxes also were the start of the mindset people wont care how good it is just how it looks and it dosent have to last very long beacause they will get bored of it anyways.
times sure have changed in many of our lifetimes.
i think that it is good that people remember how good things used to be and maybe if enough people can remember that they will get pissed off enough so we can get back to making things as good as possible rather than as cheap as possible.

Sansui gear from 70's and early 80's is the bomb!

Right now, the fully working Sansui gear in my possession includes:

  • AU-717 Integrated Amp (dual monoblock design, 85 wpc)
    TU-717 Tuner (nice!!!)
AU-D77X Integrated Amp (110wpc, built in EQ & power meter)
    SE-8X Equalizer (use daily)
RA-990 Reverb (gonna sell, not hooked up)
