So, he was too lazy to take it apart, too lazy to remove the metal trim around the controls, too lazy to spray evenly from all angles (look at the rear panel, there's huge areas that never got sprayed)

Nah, don't think so. Pretty sure the it's the regular glass, just lighting makes it look like that.

My dad got his truck painted at Earls (a 1970's Southern California staple). They painted EVERYTHING! Window rubber, door handles, windshield wipers, grill chrome. Everything but the glass, headlights and tail lights ALL FOR 49.95!!!!
