i heard a rumor that boomboxes made for the european market are better in some ways than those made in japan. Is this really true? and if so can any 1 show some differences between the two region boxes.
Secondly i GOT MY SHARP 9000 back from the mechanic, its all fixed and good, the origin of the box- i got it from a friend for 30$, it had a broken tuner knob, no treble, speaker knobs, a broken antena. The mechanic fixed the box pretty well, swapped the mic knobs for the Treble@speaker 1n's. The box has white woofers. Well i listened to it myself, and i can say this: The box sounds good,i can see that the sharp has alot of highs(treble), the woofers handle 30-38Hz to 50% sound before distorting, a crown 980 goes up to 60-65%. So, because it distorts in the bass department, THAT is why i think every1 thinks it sounds bad, but those highs make up for it  . Was my statement right? or does it sound bad for another reason?

The question: Are there supposed to be lights at the top of the frequency(Radio) bar? My friend says that there should be lights there, but it doesnt light up, i dont know? im kinda at a loss here D:?

How do you know that it produced bass down to 30-38Hz? That seems a little too low for a 1-piece boombox to be capable of.

As for European vs Japanese boomboxes, are you talking about the same brand (like Sharp) making one version for Europe, and another for Japan? If so, the only difference is that they will use different voltage requiremens, and the Japanese FM tuner range will be different. Also sometimes the Japanese version comes with an extra "FM Wireless" feature that allows people to use a wireless microphone.

I test the frequency in music with precise equalizers, by cuting of any other frequencies.
Still need the light question to be awnsered

What kind of lights?

Like a dial light? Or something else?

There's a power LED and an FM stereo LED and thats it, no dial light or anything else should be around the tuner scale.

Some have an extra LED for Dolby in the middle of the needle meter, some just have a Record LED.

Rock On.

Oh i meant above the Radio frequency bar.. like in an S90 i suppose, but if there shouldnt be any thats no problem, it was only something a friend told me.
EDIT: this thing is LOUD, i have to listen on 0.5-1.5 Volume OUT OF 10. ( Bass -3, Treble +5)

Are you using Eq's, test tones or a signal generator?

Test Tones and some music. Mainly 30HZ 35HZ and 38HZ and smnth like Lil wayne i dunno, however i dont really need below 60Hz because my music doesnt go down that low.
EDIT: I use Line in from my PC to the Box and play the tones/music. Not from tapes.
