does ebay ever freeze up if there are too many last second bids ????

usually --i have a 5 second delay --when i hit the 'place bid' button --
but tonight --it was 50 seconds !!!! :annoyed:  :annoyed:
so - my bid was too late :'-(

oh well --it went for more $$ than i wanted to bid anyway -

but GEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEZZZZZZ :sadno:

For sure, I've seen weird multiple refreshes and the odd lockup closer to ending time.

Was it possibly at your end? With your ISP??

I think the snipe programs are possibly the cause of a lot of this, lots of last second type bids....

That was a good price regardless. I suspect that the hiccup might've been your computer or browser.

I too had a situation simuliar a few days ago where I bid at last second and someone else must have too but they won with a smaller bid even though I had bid alot more  I bet it was slow connection speed or something :annoyed:

I'm pretty sure eBay servers can handle whatever load is thrown at them. When this happens to me (which it does... it's always a chance you take with a snipe), I assume it's my browser or (more likely) my crappy ISP. High speed, schmigh speed. (Either that, or my computer is busy downloading a stupid, automatic Windows update without my knowledge.)

I experienced this awhile back, and lost an auction. I have since been using a sniper program for Ebay, I've never had it happen since.

Ed put me onto esnipe.com a few years ago and I haven't looked back. It's free to try, and then a very inexpensive points-based thing afterwards...

It's been real good to me and I'm very happy with it.

I like it better than stalking at the end because it eliminates the emotion from the moment and I avoid the urge to overbid. As such, it's protected me from myself and saved me more money than I can really quantify...

I've been using ezsniper.com for awhile. I think they give you a free trial, and then you must pay. It is a very reasonable fee, and it works good!

I was bidding at the last minute and also noticed a freeze up! My last bid just didn't register in time, though I might not have gotten it anyway...I wasn't bidding high on it with the troublesome deck.

Guess there's always next time. lol
