I got this 931 locally from the original owner in November of 2011 the morning of "black friday". It had been sitting in his paint/wood shop forever. I didn't really want to pay him the $100 he was asking because the entire box had clear coat overspray all over it and the chrome was in horrible shape. I got the itch to finally do a restoration on it so I wouldn't be ashamed to show it off  :w00t: .

You can tell from these 2 original pictures that it is really hazed out. The overspray was everywhere and wouldn't wipe off  . The plexi over the LCD VUs was peeled away from the box and it was caked full of sawdust inside the VU meter area. I don't have anymore before pictures :-/ . It did play radio/line-in just fine, the function switch was not broke, and it had both original antennas and nothing missing, so I figured it would be worth saving. These 931's are a pain in the butt to do a full gutting restoration on it, just warning anyone that wants to try  .

Also, this is the earliest of the 2nd generation 931's because you can see the brown color around the power button on the decal  .

After. Polished the case, Polished the chrome. Painted the speaker grills. Lubed and cleaned the decks. Cleaned the woofers. Even had to scrub and polish the decals to get the clear coat overspray off  .

got major RESPECT!!! for the Lasonic crowd!! I don't know how you guys work on those nightmare interiors....  :'-( I

The mroe photos I look at the more I cringe at the sight of all those random looking solder points & sapghetti nithmares of cables & wires. UGGH!!! What a mess & yet you guys restore absolutely 'trashed' boxes & return them to glory. *BOWS HUMBLY* :dunce:

Wow dude :jawdrop:

I read your "Pissed Off" thread about working on this radio....but had no idea it would look like this.

These damn Lasonic's are like a flame and I am the moth. Even knowing how hard they are to work on....I'm still going to go out and get one

Clear coat over spray is some of the worst to get off

This rare beauty came out great man.....another saved boombox.

Thanks buddy ;-) .

I didn't think it would come out this good. I can't take this "close up" of pictures with a lot of my boomers because they simply aren't this nice! hahaha
