I Am Legend
finally - a year later --got the two 550 side bars ( thanks blasterpunk :thumbsup: )
plus the deck door -- not yet totally installed ( thanks fresh produce :smooch: )
=========================

need input about the side bars :hmmm: :hmmm:

1. see photo #3 --thats how its been all these months - with just the stainless cabinet vertical bars --
they look great to me :drool:
so - perhaps i should forget the ' official' 550 bars and leave it ' as -is ' ??

2. should i keep the stainless bars on there -
and install the 550 bars on the sides --as the photos show ? ( ie - use BOTH ) ??

3. eliminate the stainless bars - just intsall the 550 bars ?

4. if the stainless bars are gone --
then ............... :hmmm: :hmmm:
should the 550 bars be installed on the sides on the box ( as shown )

OR -- should the 550 bars be inserted into the front case -- exactly where the stainless bars are now ??
=====================

btw --i wont trust that handle with the extra case weight plus 10 D cells -
so that strap WILL be installed ... under and around the case with secure OAK brackets

The way side bars are attached looks practical with the current design.
The top face rectangular trim in silver color which is covering the dials is hiding the good looks of the speaker rings. I'm sure the front steel bars in the front will not exist with the original bars.

Ira, i think i actually prefer the original smaller front bars rather than the bigger side bars :yes:

On the subject of the handle, are you going to try and fit one that runs along the whole length of the top of the box, also how heavy is this monster going to be weighing in at when finished.

Looking good mate

thanks alan --
the handle is the jvc m70 --i have often carried this around -- even with batteries --
my guess is the total weight is about 25 pounds --
perhaps similar to the high end // high power 3 piecers -

not sure if the wider handle will make it stronger ?

but i do know that the heavy duty 2" wide strap can yank it about with ease and security

Ira, I like the bigger 550 roll bars on the side. Roll bars should extend pass the speaker grills so if the radio happens to fall on its face it will protect them from damage. I would remove the other three because from what I see in the photos the speakers extends beyond these bars so they serve no purpose. :nonono:

thanks alberto --
one funny thought ---these 10" grills are from real jvc 550 models -
and believe it or not --their thickness with the heavy steel mesh --plus their very pronounced convex curvature..
seem to make them even stronger than the ' protective' roll bars :-O :-) :-)

LOL!! :lol: :lol: :lol: :lol: :lol: I'm sure they are, but if you are going to install roll bars they should look like they are there to protect the speaker grills. :-) Looking practical is the key. :thumbsup:

Looking good Ira. How does it sound now with actual 10inch woofers installed now?
:yes: Those woofers look beefy :yes:
