:-D Hi fellas; I bet ya start laugh or wonder what the heck I'm talking about when ya read my thread but seriously, The only way for me to go the Sunchine Party from N.Y.C. to Florida is by plane cause my car is 11 years old with 135,000 miles and I don't think it would make it so my question is I will be flying through Jet Blue will I be able to 3 boombox on the aircraft even if I have to pay for the cargo or I wont be allowed to bordem on the aircraft?

man 135,00 miles is nothing i have seen cars with more miles come from canada as long as you take good care of the car good tires a good oil change make sure brakes are ok and what else some money for gas and some candybars and you are good to go... what ya think bro...........

I doubt very much that you can take them on the plane with you bro... really... in their rules I think you can't take big things that you could probably "chuck" at somebody... OUCH! That would hurt... Boombox in the Face! But seriuously I think they won't let you.... :sadno:

What kind of car do you have LL? I have 224,000 miles on my car and it's still going strong although I have a short laundry list of things to do to it as soon as the weather warms up.

As far as boxes on a plane I have no idea, I haven't flown in years and the rules have changed since my last flight.

i still think it will be easier and cheaper if you rent a car in new york
and drive it down here

I was actually thinking the same thing, as I am going to Tokyo in June and wanted to look into some boomboxes, but with out boxing them up and shipping them home, can I use them as my "Carry On" luggage? Not sure if a C-100 or GF-777 would be small enough.

Plus, would they think "no one uses those old boomboxes, must be a BOMB!"

I don't want to get my dream box, just to have the airport security smash it open!

Hey Lasonic TRC-920!

If you have a wifey, take her, that means 2 more bags you can fill with wonderful goodies!

Your best bet is to really really do a good packaging job and stick it in a checked luggage under the plane...

Hell, if my high school friend Mark brought me a 26" LCD Screen HDTV from California in a checked luggage and it arrived in perfect condition, you can pretty much stick ANY boombox in a luggage and check it! ;-)

San Francisco, California to Caracas Venezuela (with only one connection in Houston) = 9 hours of flight.
Then Caracas, Venezuela to Mérida, Venezuela (in the Andes) = 12 hours more (by bus) or 1 hour 45 min.

Again, it arrived in perfect condition, been using it fault free everyday since August 2009!

i think they have changed the rules about what carryon luggage is. i am pretty sure any boombox would most likely have to be checked and shipped in the cargo hold of the aircraft. unless you could convince them it is a musical instrument.

Yes! yes! yes! good idea!!!

You could say it's either a:

"Ghettotuba"
"Sharpsichord"
"Recorder"
"JVCitar"
"Toshibanjo"
"Aiwashboard"
"Violinational" or just a simple
"Grundidgeridoo"

:-) I will bubble wrap box them and place them in a suitcase with wheels and roll them on and of the plane, I'm a bit worry but I will go positive and make it to the party, I will hopefully arrive by 5:30 PM on Friday a day before the party and hope to make it to the beerfest  .

I can't wait to see the looks on security, imo they will be very curious about any large electronics....

Great luck to you Lopez and hopefully all goes great!

Looks like you already got your answer LLopez.

Within the last two years or so (since 9/11) my dad brought back a Sharp GF-9191HB in his luggage for me last time he went to Germany. I bought the box on German eBay and had it shipped to my brother's house (he lives in Nuernberg) where he got to play with it for a month or so. Then, at the end of my dad's visit over there, he put it in his suitcase with clothes all around it for padding. The inspectors did open his luggage (there was a note in there) but he did not have any problems as a result of this.

To save weight and for added safety, I would not put any batteries in it. All bags are x-ray'd and anything with batteries is scrutinized a bit harder...

Shouldn't be a problem, I just hope your luggage is big enough. :-D
