One of two things he didn't want to wear out the finish on the keys or he can't read them looks like a Marantz boombox I have a hard time reading those tape deck keys at a certain angle.

I'm guessing they were instructions for his 10 year old son or his 90 year old grandfather.

I almost understood it
and dont have a problem with it
i think it increases the price of the box as it gives it history
of the owner and a kind of retro feel
we dont get today with icons

Record must be a Virgin! Like a Virgin! :w00t:

For fact my CFS 88 needs new belts so I put a label not to press record button. Or else, I have to open the box and reset it.

Probably the result of some bad experience. Somebody pressed the record (instead of play) button during Christmas party and the owner lost his beloved Alvin & the Chipmunks recording!

Grandma recorded over ol' Blue Eye's again!

My grandmother, who was born in 1917, used to accidentally press the button on her TV remote that would change the station off of channel 3 which had the cable box tuned to it, so she would loose all her cable stations. She had no grasp of any level of technology, like how the cable box worked, VCR's or the like. She could go up or down the channel selector for the cable box, but once she changed the TV channel off channel 3, she was DONE! Someone would have to drive over to her house and fix it (She was 75 miles away) and some times, it would be a week or even weeks before someone could get over there and she would be sitting there without TV, in an empty house. It was very sad. She asked her neighbor to fix it so many times that they stopped doing it.

So, I can understand the need for these label's.
"Grandma, stop pressing the record button, you recorded over your music again"....."I did what now?????" :hoveround: (**I love and miss you grandma**)

Hahahaha, I wonder if its just a dirty record slider? My record button has a silver sticker over it blanking it out, on my Panasonic RX-C100, If I push the button it messes up the stereo channels, makes cassettes play through one speaker, and the other functions it plays through one speaker much weaker, then if you fiddle a little with it, It goes away and never comes back unless you press that button, It came with the little silver sticker and I don't make cassettes with it, so I still haven't had the button cleaned, my cousin has become an electronic technician and I am going to have him fix it this summer, Maybe this box had a similar issue?
