Hi Guys,
A little while ago I fully disassembled my original V1.0 box to give it a refinish and respray to bring it up to V5.0 paint finish standard. I spent a full day sanding and repainting. I fired up the router to smooth up the corners of the end panels. The old Samsonite suitcase handle was also upgraded to the leather/ metal style handle used on my other boxes.
During the process, I updated the original 12V female cigarette charger method to the now standard 5mm female charging port that I used on my later projects.
Unfortunately, during the wiring and soldering process, I forgot to disconnect the battery. Yep, a loose wire caused a dead short that took out the battery and caused plenty of burnt wires and magic smoke!
Luckily, I disconnected the battery in time before the whole thing went up in flames. These SLA batteries sure have some energy reserves!
I finished up the wiring repairs and parked the box until today when I finally got around to fitting a new SLA battery.
The box has served in the past as my speaker test box. She’s currently running a set of Kenwood 6 ohm Hifi speakers. These puppies are very loosely suspended and produce some very nice bass.
She’s back in action now sounding very smooth and balanced!
