I'm traveling to the U.S. this coming december and I'd like to know if I can bring back some DeOxit in my luggage?
Does anybody know if I can travel with that legally? Will it blow up?
How about that special glue for repairing the Posts? (can't remember the name right now)
Please I'd appreciate some help on this... :smooch:

You won't be able to take any DeOxit back with you - either in checked baggage or carry on. All aerosol cans are considered "flammable" items and are prohibited. You can get your brother to try and mail some to you.

Deoxit also comes in brush on -- or needle dispenser varieties. In other words, non-aerosol variety.

Sweet! I didn't know that. I've only ever seen the spray cans at Guitar Center.

So if I buy some through the Internet and have them send it here there'd be no problem???

What about the plastic stuff to rebuild screw posts??? Can I bring that in my luggage?

I think you'd be better off just buying them online and having them shipped to you, if possible. Flammables will get you in trouble quick if you take them on airplanes. I don't know what plastic repair stuff you are talking about but chances are that they are also volatile flammables so I would avoid them as simply not worth the hassle. Shipping could also be an issue if it's going airmail. Are these materials not available where you live?

I tried to take a 4oz bottle of cologne in my carry on and they tried to make me dump it. Security stated I could only bring 2oz of any liquid, so I sprayed half out in the bathroom... :-D ...I wasn't about to dump an $80 bottle of cologne...

Well Super, to tell the truth, nope. Kinda embarrassing... there's no DeoxIT... there's probably like an equivalent to it but since I don't know the exact chemical composition of DeoxIT then how do I look for it? Theres that "cold" spray stuff that cleans electronic circuits and stuff like that I don't know if that's the same???

Maybe I'll just buy a can or two of DeoxIT and ship them to myself from Florida? I'll ask first at the Post Office just in case... and that Plastic Stuff I'm talking about if the kind you mix two colored putty-like substances and once mixed they harden and can be drilled into and such... to fix the Posts that holds the boomboxes back together with the front face.

J.B. Weld should do the trick for that.

Practically every auto parts store or hardware store sells JB Weld. Actually, any 2-part epoxy will be just as effective. I use solvent myself but I'm pretty sure you can't carry the solvent onto the aircraft because it's very volatile, flammable, and the fumes very strong.
