date of manufacture

Just been giving my 950 a good check over and was curious when I seen a date sticker on the rear of the unit. It reads serial number 07 09 80. Could this be the date the box was made? I always thought this box was more 83/84,any help here would be geatly appreciated. Here is a pic of the sticker in question...

I believe that may correct. I scored a Crown 850 that I have read came out in mid 80s. It has a manufacture date of '81 0n an adhesive on it. I'll double check it tomorrow.

I recall something about it being sold in 83/84 or similar. But, these stickers say otherwise. Maybe it's the difference between Manufacture & Release dates. I'm pretty certain the original owner of My 850 told Me he bought it new from Circuit City (Electronics store) in 83/84.

Yes there must be a difference between manufacture and release dates like for example the 850 was made in 81, and then sold for a few years after. Thanks for your help here it's much appreciated bro

Hey Fuzz, I have some 850 parts, I'll check to see if I have that button. By the way, are you able to see the code number on the amp chips? I was curious if that 850F uses the same amps as my 850L. If you can't see it cuz it's covered by the heatsink, what's the code on the speakers?

Mine has the sticker in the battery compartment too blu, I can never make out what they actually mean though mine reads L 1697751...... thanks for posting up.
