Spent ages looking for a decent FM transmitter but because of the low power allowed in the uk it's hard to find something half decent. Well in my searches I stumbled across this. It's meant for your car but runs off 5v through a usb cable so is easy to run off the mains. It picks up all the DAB stations (it has a big aerial to put on the roof of your car or in my case the windowsill!) then transmits the signal on FM which you pick up in whatever boombox you like!

The icing on the cake is that it also has a line in so you can plug your iPod/phone etc in and transmit that too.

Been using the last half hour and it's working really well and is dead easy to use. Picked mine up second hand but like new (bits still in sealed bags and the protective plastic on the screen) for just £35 including the aerial on eBay. Well impressed! :-) image.jpeg

I like the look of that, ive had a couple FM transmitters but they are a bit hit and miss.

Whats the range like on this could you have multiple boxes around the house picking up the signal.

Ive always fancied having a party at my house and rather than a having disco set in one room, having a box in every room of the house (and a couple in the garden) all playing the same play list.

:breakdance:

Does that stand for Digital Audio Broadcast..? Might be why we haven't heard much of it in the US.. :hmmm:
Yes, you're right first time.

I sometimes use a DAB radio with an FM transmitter plugged into it to broadcast to a BB but this gadget you've found does the job of DAB radio and also transmitter all-in-one.

Does it run on batteries as well? If so, what type? Regular DAB radios are notorious for their battery consumption.

Thanks for asking because I was feeling kind of behind the learning curve. Been happening more often than not. :-/

Have you had experiences with others Si that you'd stay away from. There's a few around the shops here but the look cheaply built.

Australia had to go 1 better, we're DAB+ :-)

I like it, crystal clear audio, much better than FM, and more stations as well.

America sucks for tech........No DAB, shitty broadband availability, low speeds even if you have it.

Same goes for healthcare. Great if you can afford it. Otherwise....

Well I've set this up in the kitchen of my new house. Put the aerial outside to get a really strong DAB signal. Works brilliantly. Can pick up the FM transmission upstairs in the bathroom too which is one floor up and one room along with brick walls which is better than any uk FM transmitter I've had before
