Customizing an I931...

My brother just let me have his I931 Now that Blu_fuz has customized his I think I am going to have a go at it. I have Been wanting a Gold one for so long but don't want to pay $350-$400 for one Today I took her all apart, took off old decals, used goo gone to clean up stickiness and gave it a full bath Stay tuned to see how it all turns out

I only painted over the decals because they were the ugly Rap Up edition decals, and any new decals would hide too much of the graffiti artwork .


I can't wait to see the gold on yours . Are you installing the same decal again?

Yes I'm purchasing new from lasonic because the old ones had some kind of spots all over them that would not come off. Looking forward to this but may not get to it til weekend

Always love seeing people transform the Lasonics. They are rediculous on purpose with all of the colours and chrome, so why not go even farther overboard! I say this lovingly, as I love them for their outlandishness, much in the same way as love the discolite

I just noticed that your i931 had a textured/rough finish before you started prepping for paint. My Rap Up i931 had a shiney black finish on the case....... I wonder why they did that

Is it possible that was caused by the ahesive on the back of the plastic decal? He sid the residue was removed, but it could have burned the grid on there. I say this because on an old 931 I took apart, there was a grid of adhesive on the back of the front covers if I recall.

My i931 to be customised is the same as this one too, it's all black, just a matte finish instead of gloss. I'm sure Bill's is a nice even black; it's just the flash that has made it look otherwise.

Funny but I have 3 others and 2 are matte rough finish and my white one is glossy smooth surface.. Not sure why Lasonic has done different surfaces ( rough or smooth) and matte or shiny aube it's for painting reasons because the gold version is actually black plastic

Thanks guys just picked up primer , gold paint and clear coat finish...so I will be starting soon

Well got started and I decided not to paint inside of bbx or battery compartment because of not really needing it. I also decided to keep handle black. Here is more pics of pre primed and then primed in dark gray. So far so good I have also put about 4 coats of gold paint. Tomorrow after letting dry overnight I will clear coat

So these are some recent pics, mind you the lighting is very dim do to being in basement and flash just changes color. So pictures are low light. Will have better ones in another day or so 1st set is just 4 coats paint and 2nd set has 4 coats clear I am very pleased how it's turning out
