Wanted to try and make a battery cover for this Jeep Boombox I've had for a few months. I actually like this briefcase boombox thing, the sound is quite good, very portable and compact, has 2 speakers and 2 REAL tweeters inside. Only drawback is that no line in and no cassette player, only CD and radio. Get's good reception and the CD player works well so I'm ok with it.

Anywho, I found it at a great price but without battery cover. Had never tried it so I wanted to give it a shot a making a custom battery cover. Picked up a large piece of acrylic mirror free from work. Cut it to size, I used a sharp razor knife to score it using several passes then just bend and it cut nice and straight.

I glued some metal tabs in the back (in this case small metal dics, that keep the piece of plexiglass in place.

And it turned out pretty good. It stays in place very well and the mirror looks great. Just gotta be careful because this stuff scratches easily and fingerprints and other slight smudges show up easily. Don't have C batteries to see if they will rattle inside, but if they do I'll just glue a couple pieces of foam to the back to keep them put.

Looks good to me. Paint it tan to match the body and forget about the scratches. If you need to add line-in Mario, ship it up to me. Seriously, I owe you. ;-)
