Heyya all, My M70 is loud, proud & sounds frappin' HUGE!!! I know now why so many members covet the M70. It is the quintessential 80's box, complete with stunning VU's, chrome & chunky, top side controls & LOUD, LOUD LOUD!!!. I finished giving the new to me M70 a refresh. Haven't tackled the cassette deck yet & it still needs a service to get it back to snuff but I did clean out the case, did a bit of modding & managed to get the 'tough as nails' grills off of the face. It takes carefully using a jeweller's flathead to pry the grill away at the points where the screws for the speaker rings attach to the case & then slowly & methodically prying up 1 side of the grill with small needle nose pliers. Once you get 1 side lifted, the other three will come easily.

As you can see in the pics below, I painted the grills a deep blue to match the woofers & polished the tuenr & cassette windows. The radio / line-in both work perfectly & sound absolutely awesome. Take a look:

That looks Priceless!

The exterior looks so perfect in every way.

The RCA line in, line out connectors needs some more love and also a cotton swab cleaning. Later, the rear cover needs Jimmy's wash!

I never tried to pull the chrome rings on one of my M70. It was glued so strong to the front case. I had to give up on that.

I took the chrome rings off mine so I could repaint the grills, they were a bit of a bitch to get off but managed to do it without breaking or scratching anything...well worth it to get those grills pristine again tho

Intrigued as to what that extra dial is for...knowing Mr Chronic its gotta be light related?!

I'm almost done finishing off the box. Sound is nice & strong with a minor rattle, here & there. No big deal to sort out, later, once I'm done customizing it. Stay tuned!!!

Gently press on the speaker grill edges and see if the rattle goes away. Actually the factory applied glue on the grill edges were there to avoid vibration. Tighten the cassette door cover screws. Those were the main locations that caused vibrations on my M70s. There is a felt liner all around the rims of the rear panel. If that is not in place it will create vibrations along the front panel face to rear panel contact/seating areas. A thin layer of black electric tape can be put there if the felt liners are missing.
