Crown CSC950 help

Hey guys, So I have a new box arrive, a Crown CSC950, it is in awful, appalling condition and is going to need some new parts, most notably the handle which is completely missing.

Does anyone happen to have one (a handle that is), or a parts box breaking? I'm going to need many cosmetic parts also so if anyone has aerials, trims or anything else I could purchase please hit me up!

I'm going to upload some pictures soon, its the filthiest ropiest looking thing I've ever seen, but it does fully work!!!!

I didn't think I'd ever say this but here is a thread that needs fewer pics! :-) Wow, what a mess!

C'mon guys, is there anyone out there with the parts needed??

I'd love to see this 950 up and running again, it'd make a great thread.

Hey thanks man. Yeah she is a proper mess, just so neglected. I know she looks beyond help but I just know I can save her. The handle is the killer, that may be tough to find.

Since I took these I have started on her so more pics to follow.

can you measure the handle , i have a bunch of handles from parts boxes , might be able to fit one to the crown.

Wow that's pretty ruff, but anything is possible. I hope you find what you need and bring that sucker back to glory.

Thanks mate I appreciate that, the space between the slots where the handle would go is 19.5" approx or 49cm.

ok i'll look around tomorrow and see what i have. and if you have time to take a pic of the mounting points for the handle that are inside the case. i had a 950 but it was a long time ago.

She really did take a lot of work, I haven't sprayed the grill yet as I didn't have the exact colour and I quite liked it so didn't want to change it to a near option. She was fully working on tape and radio but only on one channel so I sorted that and rebelted. This main work was cosmetic, I had both the wife and son helping me with this one as it was taking forever.

It had the strip and bath of its life (Northerner would of approved hugely) and reassembled piece by piece. It took so long as the insides were so filthy that every part needed cleaning and lubing. It's still missing a handle and the tuning knob is not model correct but hell, look at it now compared to before!!

I have discovered that a box like this, whilst not mint, has formed more attachment in a few days than some minters ever do. I love this thing now.

Just gotta find a damn handle....

Great job on the clean - simply an astounding before and after!!!

The tuner and tape door glass will clean up no problem with a little Displex - I use it on all my cloudy/scratched windows and it's worked great every time. It's a white liquid you put on a cotton bud and gently apply in a circular motion. Then remove the rest with a soft cloth - presto!!

Did I mention you (and your family) did a great job?! :-)

man about the only handle i have thats long enough is from a maggy d8443 , you might have to mod the handle ends and cut the overall length of the handle plastic bar itself . seems like it would work , the maggy handle mounts to the outside casing of the box and has clips inside to lock the handle ends in place . trust me i know that there are few boxes with a handle long enough to fit the 950, pretty much the reason i traded mine , you could also go the blu fuzz strap rout which might work out even better.

Thanks very much man, I'm so happy with how it turned out, it really is so different now. My wife in particular did some painstaking cleaning on it for me!! I bought her some perfume to say thanks.

Good call on the Displex, never tried that and I need something for the tuner window and cassette door.

Cheers Floyd your a legend, I appreciate you having a look. There is no damage to the box where the handle was, I'm not even sure how the handle attached??? I will probably hold out for a 950 handle and try to buy a parts box unless I can figure out how the handle attaches!

I feel your pain man, the handle thing is a deal breaker. I have been listeing to it today and I really love it but the handle thing is a pita. You have to kind of manhandle it by the sides and it just feels wrong!

I have a few hable lengths but no ends, I'm going to measure them all today and see how close i can get. Got to get in the loft. Im not optimistic tho :(
