Crown CSC-980

[Hisrudeness]

I got this nice conditioned Crown CSC-980 recently.
It’s in tip top condition and myself and Geoof Hartwell managed to repair the deck key and get the deck dialled in.

Found another Crown recently, a very rare one which I’ll post up separately at the weekend.

Used the same key. He just glued, drilled a tiny hole then ran a pin through it. Stronger than before now.

Nice. I've seen a lot of broken Record keys on Crowns, I guess they jam up and people try to force them down.

It looks virtually the same as the 850 except it has the speaker grills. It sounds great in the vid Rudy, is similar sounding to the 850 aswell?
As always it looks in fantastic shape

How are you? Seems like it’s been a long time.
980s have a different parts number on the speakers and amp chips. Cassette heads look different and there are a few additional goodies on the top panel. Record level and preset tuning. Sound wise they sound good and strong. Bass comes in lower down the volume range. Neither boxes are bass shy for one piecers anyway.
