Well I got a little carried away and 24 hours after buying this $8 Crown, I have got it to a nice place. It was really nasty when I picked it up and had some tape sound issues, but I got the problem resolved, hacked up and installed a cordless power tool power battery, and given the unit a royal clean up - it came up nice!

Longer term plan was to install bluetooth and maybe respray it a metallic blue, but I'm having second thoughts about the paint, looking at how well it came up. On the topic of bluetooth, maybe I don't need it, I recently got a nice tape case that holds about 30 tapes - thats enough music for a day out!!

I love the Crowns! They're always built well and have such a classic look.
