Hi Everybody,

At the post-office there's waiting a CROWN 850 for me to be picked up. I havent seen it in real life yet but only on a lets say not so good photographs but i just wanted to have one and this one had a reasonable pricetag.
I hope i can collect it next tuesday and post some pics than.

I'm wondering which members also have this box and what the experiences are concerning sound and overall quality and maybe some of you have pics they want to post in this topic?

Thanx!

Thats a nice example you have got there! I dont know which of the two versions i will receive but its also in silver like yours..the sound is okay as i understand from your words.
Mine has to be in a fully working order but must be cleaned so the seller stated..

BEATS the M70

but don't tell no one

it doesn't have a standard handle - which I like

Its the lack of handle which i dont like about the 850, but hey, differant strokes.
I much prefer the look of the 950.
Which is better sound wise?

850 wins on every level but the 950 is close and sounds sweet .

Today the CROWN already arrived..it turned out to be the most dirtiest box i have ever bought in my life..but ALSO one of the BEST SOUNDING..MAN this thing REALLY ROCKS!!! Both the antenna's were broken and i must admit i have seen better boxes than this one but the sound makes it all up!!

Its the version with the metal Knobs..

Here are some pics after having fixed the antennas and a BIG BIG VERY BIGGGGGG cleaning:

Congrats, the 850 is definitely a good-sounder. Big open, airy sound. Unlike some boxes that become quiet if you stand behind them.

Thnx! The STEREO WIDE(OSC.3)- mode also works very fine with this box which isnt the case with most of these functions on other boxes. FM-reception is very clear and the FM- DX and LOCAL switch on the right side of the box really makes a huge difference ....its nice to have this 850 in the collection and i can recommand it to anyone who likes a firm sound!

Good looking box you picked up, just got a 950 and definitely looking for an 850 now, if it sounds better than the 950 I would say it might best an M-70 for sure.
