And her big brother:

He's gonna be a challenge cause there's no vital signs, but still no obvious problem either.
A brain teaser.

Nice! Got both the 9191 and the 9494 and they are two of my faves, just been listening to the 9191 and its fab

Hope you get the 9494 going too, it's gotta be one of the best looking boxes out IMO

There's is something about these Sharps! They are so heavy and somehow "complete". Really
nice boxes. Good design too.

I have great expectations for the sound of 9494, cause the smaller one sounds so good! We'll see if I
get any sound out of that...

I believe our own Jeff (Ghettoboom) has spent some cosiderable time recently on his Sharps burning the midnight oil and with magnificent effort to get these magnificent boxes going. :-) :-)

I'm sure he can certainly be of help with any questions regarding these. :-)

Dude! Don't you go thinking I don't love my PanicSonic. This is what I'm listening to when I'm fixing the less
fortuned ones:

Now, if someone else has one of these Mono-Wonders they can confirm this: it's gotta be
the best sounding radio in the world!

I mean, of course it's not the loudest or anything, but the sound of it amazes people. Every time.

Agreed... :agree: :agree: :agree: :agree: :agree: :agree:

The Sharps, for the most part seem to be built like tanks & for easier disassembly/servicing while Lasonics, from what I've seen, seem to be the worst built ever, of any brand. I steer clear of them completely as I do not have the talent to handle the absolutely horrible build quality & disposable nature of their cheap parts.

I do admire the Lasonic crowd who go to herculean lengths to restore those BIC-lighter style disposable boomers that were built for throwing away when done. It's no wonder a brand new Bluetooth version can be had for less than 150 bucks, online.

Much as I love my compo boxes and favour the Technics and JVC from a sound quality POV, I too love the build quality and the "feel" of my GF555. Sometimes, I just sit it on the table in front of me and open and close the cassette doors to enjoy that satisfying "clunk" sensation you get with these.

Dead easy to fit capstan sleeves and idler tyres to them, mostly thanks to the way in which every section can be removed without disturbing everything around it.
The way in which the plates and standoffs in the cassette decks are assembled (none of that nasty plastic in the important bits, not like some of its period) reminds me of a good mechanical clock from the 1940s.

You need a GF777 and a GF9696 for sure! I dream of a GF9000 all the time.

Oh yeah! 777 and 9696 are both right at the top of my wanted list just don't have the budget to spare :( 777 being top :)
