I want to set up a wall of boomboxes that have TV components and then control what is being played on the cassete and TV of each respective boombox via a computer or midi controller.

Would this require modifying on a per boombox basis? Not sure how to begin researching.

Thanks in advance for any tips or resources.

UPDATE:

I've been told that one way to control multiple boxes is by connecting an FM transmitter to one of the boxes then set the rest of the boxes to the same frequency.

Whoa! :-O That sounds like quite an intensive project. The FM transmitter would allow you to play the same song across each boombox. However, I can't even begin to imagine the mechanics behind controlling each of the cassette mechanisms with a computer. Unless the boombox were already capable of remote operation, it might be a lost cause. :-/

What you need is a matrix switcher with rs232 control, this would allow any connected source to be played to any output. The RS232 would allow for a PC to be used as a interface for switching.

Matrix units come in audio/visual or audio only, to connect the tv conponent of a boombox all video outputs would need to be modulated to allow the tv box to pick up an analog signal.
