Contradicting M90 belt sizes, anyone really know?

So which ones are correct?


Service manual:
SCX7.0 Capstan Belt (square cut, .040-.049 inch/1mm thick, inner circumference 7inches) VKB3001-012S
CX4.6 Take up belt (square cut 1mm thick, inner circumference 4.6 inches) VKB3000-017H
SCY5.2 Counter belt (square cut .035-.039 inch thick or 0.8mm inner circumference 5.2inches)VKB3000-031H

Other source:
FBM9.3 Flat Belt, Medium 9.3 Inch
SBO9.0 Square Belt, Orbicular 9.0 Inch
SBS4.6 Square Belt, Small 4.6 Inch

By memory, the first one looks too small. I recall the capstan belt is flat and approx 9".

Sad thing is, I have ordered a set of M90 belts a few years ago but have no record of what it was AND I think they didn't fit..... lol

Just took these original belts out and measured in their current condition. These are all approx. and with used belts. Micrometer is set to not 'stretch' the belt. While these belts were still installed, the capstan belt still had nice tension, the take-up belt also had nice tension, the counter belt was very stretched and was so big it wasn't able to hold itself in position.

Capstan Belt: 10.07" (flat cut, 0.191" wide, 0.0205" thick) width is 'medium'.
Take-up Belt: 5" (square cut, 0.046" thick)
Counter Belt: 7.18" (square cut, 0.0395" thick)

Capstan: FBM9.3 (flat belt, medium)
Take-up: SBS4.6 (square belt, small) *out of stock. Going to order SBS4.6 from ebay.
Counter: SBO5.2 (square belt, orbicular) *out of stock. Going to substitute for SCY5.2 from ebay.

I have belted but haven't tested the deck and I am confirming the belts I ordered to fit properly. The counter belt maybe a little tight, but I will see how that goes after it is put back together.

Does orbicular = round
unusual for a COUNTER belt
SO Y = ROUND ???
yea the stats on the M90 are all different
I have this data but I have never had to change yet

Interesting, I had the following written down from way back..

Yeah the SCY9.0 for the counter belt is way too long. I have no idea how this bad information has been out there for so long.


The old counter belt that I took off was stretched out so far that the belt wouldn't even have tension on the wheels, it just fell off. That used loose belt was just about 7" when I removed it. So, already too big at 7", the only option is to go smaller.
