Conion TC 555/ L-R slider acting up

Hey Fellas. I came across a Conion TC-555 From a antique mall for 113.00 it fired up dusty,but L-R is Loopy. Left speaker fires up not Right side. if you lightly tap top of box it tires to kick in. Opened it up to find slider looks worn or like its stripped? sprayed de oxit no GO bUT R louder. are these easy fix? thanks will put pics ASAP THIS EVENING!!!

Could be a number of causes. I would start by deoxiting all switches and working them. Also check and clean headphone jack. You should also test with headphones. These are easy and cheap remedies

heres some pics looks like the sliders is really tweeked or crooked. maybe the way i'm looking at it. but only left speaker engages. so no left.De -oxit had no effect?

Carbon resistance strip might have got a crack on it.
Examine it closely then you will see that fine line crack.
Once you locate the crack (if any) you can joing it with conductive paint.
Use minimum overlapping to either side of the crack.
That area covered by the paint has no restanance, so the more you cover will shorten the resistance value of carbon strip.

I agree with Royce here . You can check resistance with meter and see difference for both sliders

looks like all the copper in the contact area is stripped off. basically you got a gap where there should be copper.

Yeah Floyd... I was wondering about that in the beggining. Hey there looks like a Copper strip wasted away here. Either I can find a compatible part or a guy on Boomboxery on F.book says try small thin copper wire at the broken ends.Not sure I sure attempt it but I hate to have this box sitting opened up parts polished up and 1 side only playing. thanks for the Help Bro..

ifound no cracks or bends But Jvc Floyd did like I saw a copper strip gap on the slide... damn....But you fellas got a keen EYE!

Wire won't work as it will mess up resistance. Best bet is to find parts unit and since there are separate volume sliders having equal resistance for equal balance will be difficult unless you use same exact slider.

yEAH And as for that wire idea sounded shady... besides I'm not that skilled im barely getting the trade slowly,learning painting and sanding technique,if anything i will put the unit back together all cleaned up til part becomes in reach. thank you BBB!
