a good electronics cleaner / lubricant spray should work you should be able to find it at any electronic parts supplier or on ebay , the m70 is notorious for slider controls wearing out that may or may not be the problem lubricating them first then checking the results should give you a better idea if they are just dirty or worn out.

I always thought that cleaner/lubricant spray was for pots only...not sliders? One of my PC-55s has stiff/sticky sliders, too, but I've held off using anything but compressed air for fear of damaging something. Anyone know the scoop on sliders?

You can use the spray as long as it has lubricant. Solvent only makes the controls grabby. Even with the lubricant, they often become grabby. Caig faderlube F5 is a product for this purpose, though the lubricant is a little too viscous for my tastes. The only way to properly clean and restore new like feel to them is to disassemble them and regrease the nylon sliding stems with silicone grease. Just don't squirt the grease directly onto the innards/resistor board or you may notice that the slider no longer passes a signal.
