That speech is Chuck Roberts "My House". That monolog mixed into any old house set, is the bomb!

Another old house track I can't get enough of is Marshal Jefferson- Move your body. :breakdance:

Gotta agree on that Master-Z.

I remember hearing/buying all these Chicago Trax when they first came out (around 85-88 was the golden era for me).

So many hiphop heads dissing it as 'fag' music and not 'proper' urban music.

How much more urban can you get than shoestring tracks made in a bedroom and mastered to cassette!!! :-D :sin:

I think now people are 'rediscovering' tunes they slept on back in the heyday and realising the talent and spirit of experimentation those guys had back then.

Marshall Jefferson is the bomb, mad as a box of frogs, but responsible for more than his fair share of classic tracks. :surf:

Those guys are my heroes and as time goes on more people will realise the history that was being made back then.

A true and often misunderstood period of musical magic and a sound that would grow to change the face of modern music.

THIS is must see documentary for anyone with even a passing interest in House Music.

Thanks for posting that Documentary video 2steppa, very indept look of the history behind House Music. I always wanted to go to the "Paradise Garage" back then just to be with this neighbor girl that used to go there on a regular basis but never had a chance I was too young.

I'am proud to say that I went to the original "Studio 54" my cousin had some pull with the owners and bouncers so I was permitted. Here I'am a 15 yr. old entering the most famous club of New York. That was one of my aha moments in life so many beautiful women and the VIP rooms were wild, I remember seeing my cousin sitting in a VIP room with women sitting left and right of him.

The history of House Music lives in me I grew up listening to Disco which was the one that started it all. House Music to me is universal it does not belong to one group it is for everyone.

Like they say Ford, "House IS a feeling"

Too right about the disco influence, it was quite a melting pot of D-Train, Chic, Sharon Redd, but really blending that style with modern-ish technology and just getting on the equipment and 'doing what you feel'.

The rawness and spirit just shone through, this wasn't record company product, this was real.

Pressed on reground vinyl, paper labels and all chucked in!

I'm a house head and I dig the singing, but I cant stand gospel house. thats where I draw the line.

My hey day was the early 90's Detroit House/Techno scene. Man, I went to so many house, warehouse, underground parties it was the shizzle!!! We even threw a few warehouse parties and brought in some pretty big dj that owed favors, we made things happen with shoestrings, man the stories are unbelevable, sometimes I wonder what the hell were we thinking.

Nice one, Juan!

Yea, Danny T is definitely one of my top 5 favorite DJs.

I'll have to dig up a shot of Danny T for you that I took at WMC in Miami a few years ago, Danny played a 12 hour throwback set to honor his "Groovejet" days ...

Here's my next contribution to this growing retro-house classics list! I know Todd Terry is one of your absolute faves!

ENJOY your WEEK END!
